Don't Tase Me.. Me...
Do you know the weapons you possess? We all have certain weapons we use when we desire to exact revenge or have a need to defend ourselves. I'm not talking about guns or knives, I'm referring to personality traits that we tap into when we feel threatened. Often times, these weapons are detrimental to our own walks towards happiness and peace and ultimately inflict more pain upon ourselves than to our intended target. Do you immediately deride a person because of their political or religious beliefs? Hold yourself mightly high and cast dispersions when you see people behave in manners deemed beneath you? Do you recoil in anger or self pity when people say things you don't agree with? Do you lash out in judgement or anger but get hurt when that is reciprocated? Every action has an equal and sometimes more harsh reaction. Be conscious of your emotions, learn to act calmly and purposefully to an end that will benefit your peace of mind. Leave the past behind. Learn to accept that people will make mistakes, people will disappoint you, life will sometimes seem unfair but ultimately you have the choice of how you will react to it. Victimization is a choice, choosing to be triumphant is virtuous.

United By Cynicism
We sit on the cusp of the election and this time of year can be particularly stressful. Considering the state of the economy, the never ending was in Iraq, healthcare, etc, this election is probably the most devisive, and important election we have ever witnessed. With that being said, friends and family can be torn apart by differences of opinon. Don't let your good relationships be ruined by ideology. Politics are not religion and frankly no person is one thing. Nobody is 100 percent liberal or 100 percent conservative. Most reasonable people lie somewhere in the middle. Progress and hope can be found in our similarities!
1. We all agree, as our forefathers once wrote, "America is the Shiznit".
2. We can all agree, thank God neither one of these dudes is named "Bush".
3. We can all agree that this country needs to be protected and needs to retain it's position in the world.
4. We can all agree that Ryan Seacrest is a complete d-bag.
5. We can all agree that both parties need to work together and bi-partisan bull crap needs to be banished.
6. We can all agree that our kids deserve a bright future. (Except for those punk High School Musical brats)
Ok maybe those similarities and cumbaya talk don't inspire you. Then let us be united by cynicism! We all know both of these guys are just politicians who make great promises now but don't deliver later. We know all politicians are liars and crooks so lets not anoint either as "the messiah". And we also know America is sooooo deep in trouble right now that neither one of these guys will be able to clean up much for at least three or four years.
Whether we are connected through hope, or cynicism, we can be united. Remember, your vote matters, so get out and vote. No voice, no choice.

Effective Communication for Meat Heads...
Conflict resolution is an important skill to have in inter-personal communications. As conflicts are inevitable to arise, the truly great will be able to employ strategies that will foster an environment of peaceful compromise. This roid head is not an example of such an individual....
Time To Ask Deuce!
Ok so every once in a while, I'll get an e-mail from someone asking for advice. (I'm not sure why either) Anyway, if you have a question for me, feel free to send an e-mail to deuce@power939.com. Here's a recent message I received.
Dear Deuce,
Love your show! You crack me up! I was hoping you could help me out. I have a co-worker who constantly bothers me with all the details of his life. I'm constantly being bombarded by his drama and he's completely oblivious to my attempts to ignore him. How do I get him to take the hint that his constant whining and complaining do nothing but drag me and the rest of the office down?
Sincerely:
Annoyed
Dear Annoyed,
I think it's important that you recognize first and foremost that everyone's favorite subject is... you guessed it... themselves! We are so in love with ourselves that we can't help but think that everyone around us is interested in our drama! With that being said, perhaps you're the only one that will listen to this guy. Either that, or he's just one of those people that's going to run their mouths about their life regardless of whatever you or anyone else thinks. If that's the case, you just have to let it go! You cannot change people! People are going to be their annoying selves. All you have control over is your own reaction to it. If you confront him, he will get defensive, and just add you to the things he likes to complain about. Try to keep your thoughts and actions positive and hopefully that positivity will spread to him. Attitudes are like herpes, extremely infectious. If you create a positive environment and project good energy, you will find that everyone around you feels it too. Unfortunately the same is true with negativity. You must block out all negative thoughts and attitudes. If he can't keep it positive with you, shut him down immediately. No need in catching his negativity, life is way too short to spend it miserable.
All the best,
Deuce.
