I remember back in the day when I was a bachelor I never in a million years would expect that I would have enjoyed being a parent. Even after I got married I didn't want kids, but everything changed in an instant on June 8 2004 when Jack was born. Suddenly my whole life changed and I became a dad, and even had another child on December 29 2005 when Sean was born. This weekend for the first time in over 2 years my family took a vacation to Denver with out me, and I was lost with out them. I thought I would be living the dream again partying and sleeping in, but it was quite the opposite. I found myself missing the noise the kids make, reading to them, and even watching the Disney channel. I really love being a parent. That is something I never thought I would ever say in my life five years ago.
Weekend BBQ 9-02-08
I got a grill at the beginning of summer and I have gotten addicted to BBQing. I have done it at least 10 to 15 times this summer with no problems until this weekend. Instead of getting the tradtional charcoal I dedcided this week to get the BBQ Bag which you light the bag on fire and that sets the charcoal inside the bag on fire, bad idea. I tried for 20 minutes straight and it was too windy and I couldn't get that damn bag on fire. The worst part is my neighbor who is a know it all sat out there the whole time watching me. I know he was laughing at me, so after 20 mins of struggling with the match I gave up. Instead of having BBQ that Sunday I took the kids to McDonald's.
Football at Cessna Stadium 8-28-08
I am so excited because tonight I am actually getting to see college football at Cessna Stadium. I really wish that Wichita State had a football team. To me there is nothing like college football. My son Sean who is 2 and a half is already obsessed with football. When I watch it on TV Sean is always glued to the TV. It will be interesting to see how he does watching football live in person. If he can last the first half I will be very impressed. I have never seen a football game at Cessna Stadium I am really looking forward to it. I hope one day Wichita State finally gives in and starts a football program again. Even if the team was horrible I would still go.
Back To School Bash
I have to say I had an amazing time at "The Back To School Bash". My day started by doing the Morning Show and then picking Kerri Hilson up at the airport. She was extemely humble and fun to be around, After Kerri Hilson I had to pick Pretty Ricky up and they were completely different. I would have to say of all the people I have met in Music and sports they are the craziest. They are a lot of fun to be around but they go 100 mph so they are hard to keep up with. It is almost like they are constantly on stage. Even when we were having dinner they were cracking jokes and flirting with the waitress. Pretty Rick put on a great performance on stage and then went to the after party. When were were leaving and I was bringing them back to the hotel there was a caravan of girls following us. I think there were about 24 girls who joined Pretty Ricky in their hotel room. Overall It was a crazy fun time at "The Back To School Bash".
High School Football 8-20-08
It is offically Football season here in Wichita because the High schools started their practices on Monday. Right now all the schools are doing two-a-days which are extremely tough. I have to give a lot of respect to all the high school players because it is hard suffering through two-a-days and keeping up on school work. We are celebrating high school football week by having a different high school football team in every morning at 7:20. Make sure you listen, and look for us out at a different high school football games all fall with "Friday Night Lights".
Haileypalooza 8-19-08
Last Saturday night I went to Haileypalooza for the first time and I have to say it was a huge success. There was a lot of drinking and dancing going on, and everyone from Power 93.9 was there. I definitely took part in some of the drinking which lead to some dancing. This was the first time I had drank since March, and everyone could tell. I used to have a high tolarence for alcohol, but not any more. After two shots I was feeling no pain. The rest of the night is a blur but judging by the pictures I had a blast. I can only hope that next year I will be invited again.
