Gas Prices Keep Going Down!

The gasoline market doesn’t seem to be reacting to tensions in the Middle East and the Ukraine.

Instead, they’re dropping consistently – and according to GasBuddy, they’re at their lowest national average since 2010, just $3.45 a gallon for regular.

Your results may vary, of course, but generally, that part of the economy is in good shape.

Which means you won’t have to spend as much in gas to go pick up the every-more-expensive bread and milk this week.

Hey, it’s the little things…

Of course, the folks at Funny or Die have a slightly different take on the situation. Check out this KFOD exclusive report…

Donnie & Jenny Tie the Knot

It’s official. Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg are now husband and wife.

They got married in the ballroom of a hotel in Saint Charles, Illinois over the weekend.

Just screams “glamorous,” doesn’t it?

According to reports in US Weekly, Jenny wasn’t really into planning the wedding. “I consider myself to be kind of like a dude,” she told the magazine. “Like, I just kind of want to show up and drink."

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!

And in case you’re wondering, the affair was NOT catered by Wahlburgers.

Frozen Enough?

ABC’s Once Upon A Time takes fairy tale characters and plops them into the “real world” little town of Storybrooke, Maine.

Interesting premise, as it mixes in characters from fairy tales like Snow White and favorite stories like The Wizard of Oz and Peter Pan.

This season, the characters from Disney’s Frozen are dropping in. And people are buzzing about it.

Check out the promo, and then decide if you’ll be camped out in front of your TV on September 28.

Another New iPhone?

Just when you were getting used to whatever version of the iPhone you have, Apple’s getting ready to come out with the latest (and they would have you believe, greatest!) version of the iPhone on September 9.

No one knows for sure what features will wow us with this new generation, but the front-running theories include:
  • Bigger Screen – you could be talking about a screen as big as 5.1 inches, which means you won’t have to squint as much – you’ll still have to squint, just not as much.
  • Near Field Communication – basically, it could turn your cell phone into a short-range wireless communication device – which sounds like if you’re within earshot of someone, you can talk to him on your phone, but I guess it’s more than that.
  • Sapphire Glass – harder than glass – and this stuff is synthetic, so it’s not like you’ll have a precious gem in your cell phone – unless you’re a Kardashian, and they’ll try to get legit sapphire glass.
Go ahead, get in line. There probably won’t be an iPhone 7 until after Christmas.

Check out this tech report to get more info – it’s sort of like watching a weather report done by a geek about a new bit of technology. It’s a 7-minute-plus video – average turn-off time is just under 60 seconds – how long can you last?

Boo Hoo for Hollywood

According to industry insiders, the summer of 2014 was not a good one for the folks who make motion pictures. They say it’s the worst summer box-office-wise since 1997.

There were a lot of movies you could call highly-anticipated that highly-tanked. Among them: Melissa McCarthy’s Tammy; Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the Old West; and Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow.

The best-grossing movie of the season was the highly-unexpected Guardians of the Galaxy – pushing close to the $300-million mark.

Back to the drawing board, boys and girls. Or more importantly, the storyboard.

One Way to Celebrate Labor Day

Hey, it’s Labor Day – a day to celebrate the American labor movement, dedicated to the social and economic achievements of workers.

That’s Wikipedia’s take on it.

To most of us, it just means a day off from work. Or the end of summer. Or the beginning of the school year.

But most of us will have to go back to work on Tuesday, so what better way to spend part of your day off than to plot some fun pranks you can pull on your co-workers.

No one will get hurt – including you, unless of course people figure out you’re the prankster.

Enjoy this little video courtesy of the folks at BuzzFeed. And have a great day off!

Doctor Doom Leaked!

Sci-fi geeks are burning up Twitter and other social media platforms with pictures of the new Doctor Doom from the upcoming reboot of Fantastic Four.
Couple of questions here:
  1. Does the original Fantastic Four merit a do-over? I think not.
  2. Isn’t Doctor Doom a super villain? So why does he look like a cross between Dorothy’s Tin Man and Sir Alec Guinness’s Obi Wan Kenobi?
Take a look – maybe you’ll see something I’m missing.

The Phoenix Mayor?

Here’s something none of us ever thought we’d hear. According to The Washington Post, Rob Ford, the embattled and admittedly addicted mayor of Toronto, has a decent chance of being reelected.

Let’s recap. Rob Ford has admitted to abusing drugs and alcohol. He’s been at times completely out of control while in office. He’s checked himself into rehab, emerging just a couple of months ago to pick up his campaign where he left off.

Back in June, 63% of the people in Toronto wanted him to resign. That number has dropped to about 50% - still a lot of people! – but according to the poll numbers, Ford is now just three percentage points away from the front runner.

Statistically, that’s dead even.

Amazing how he seems to be rising out of the ashes of his self-destruction.

Peyton Manning: Vicious Taunter?

The National Football League yesterday announced that Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was being fined $8200 for taunting Houston Texans’ safety DJ Swearinger during a pre-season game.

Swearinger had been flagged for tackling Wes Welker, who ended up getting a concussion on the play.

Manning got in Swearinger’s face mask and dropped an F-bomb.

Boom. $8200. Manning says he won’t appeal the ruling.

He even called it “money well spent” according to one source.

Those aren’t pads on Manning’s shoulders. Those are major-league chips!

Beyonce's Jedi Mind Trick?

Mathew Knowles, father of Beyonce and Solange, the famous feuding siblings, says everything that’s happened with and between his daughters this summer is nothing more than a Jedi mind trick.

During an interview yesterday, PapaBey was asked about the infamous elevator fight, and about the rumors of the possible royal split of Queen Bey and Jay Z.

“Everybody’s talking about it,” he said. And sales for the On The Run Tour went up, plus Solange’s album sales increased by 200%.

All because of the Jedi mind trick.

In case you don’t know your Star Wars lore, PapaBey’s suggesting that his kids have taken over our minds, and fooled us into doing exactly what they want.

“These are not the droids we’re looking for” after all…
