With the Midwest hungry for a legit hip hop sensation, it seems that no one has answered the call. The solution has arrived with the emergence of Kae Wun. Combining East coast lyricism with a Midwest swagger, Kae Wun is primed to be hip hop's next major player and finally give the Midwest the respect it deserves.
His hip hop career began at age 8, when he was mentored by his older brother A-Town. His brother taught him to freestyle, and to train him, pitted him against high school aged rappers. Kae Wun's competitors were stunned to lose to such a young MC.
Kae Wun continued to hone his battling skills while attending high school at Wichita Northeast Magnet. During his sophomore year, he competed in battles everyday and was never defeated. A-Town continued to mentor him and devised ways to sharpen his songwriting and battling skills. A-Town set up challenges with competitors in their late twenties. In order to battle against A-Town, the competitors first had to defeat Kae Wun. His older brother had it easy, the competitors never made it past the first round.
Kae Wun treats his writing like an art. "My writing is therapy to me" says Kae. "I always wished I had a machine that could make someone feel the same way I do, the closest thing I have to that, is my music." This personal song writing can be heard on "Amaze (A Toast)", featured on the ICT anthem single.
This year, Kae Wun decided to compete in the most difficult battle of his career thus far, the Skateway Park Battle Royal. Through a series of elimination, the twenty challengers, who entered the battle were all defeated by Kae Wun. He left that day with a $250 prize and became the undisputed freestyle champion of the city.
His charismatic look and delivery makes him popular with the ladies. Although it has been suggested that he angle his lyrics towards women, he says, "Real recognize real, and apparently the ladies recognize it."
Recognizing such a high level of talent, the members of KDH Creative, LLC leaped on the opportunity to work with Kae Wun and help showcase his talent to the world. The resulting partnership gives Kae Wun a great deal of creative freedom, with the marketing power of KDH Creative fully behind him.
