Growing up on the northeast side of Wichita, KS, Trey Hightower, aka "Bling", always had love for hip hop music. Listening to Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg, Bling was inspired to make his way on to the hip hop stage.
"At first it was all just fun, but then I started getting pretty good at it... well at least I thought it was good."
Bling and his "best friend" started writing songs together and recording them on to an old tape player. From there it was an up hill battle until Bling got his first break working in a real studio recording with Rodgee at Digital Elements.
Bling finished up an album with his "best friend", which he called a 'learning experience'. After going to the studio to solve a beat misunderstanding, Bling met XV and they connected as Bling did his first live interview. After the interview, Bling passed his 'learning experience' on to XV and let the producer/artist get a look and Bling's talent.
On June 20, 2003, Bling's life changed as he moved into the real world of hip hop music and started recording a group album with XV that was never released due to artist's reasons.
Bling's comment on the situation was brief, "You know best friends leave you (laughs)."
Bling is now on his own as a solo artist with Royalty Recordz. Stay tuned for his upcoming album "More Than Diamonds."
